If you wear prescription glasses or readers, most blue light blocking glasses force you to choose: blue light protection or vision correction. The DefenderShield® Universal Fitover Blue Light Glasses eliminate that trade-off. The wide, rectangular TR90 frames are engineered to sit comfortably on top of your existing glasses, adding a blue light filtering layer without replacing the lenses you depend on for clear vision.

Two lens options target two different use cases:

Amber (50% blue light filtering) - designed for daytime and all-day use. The slight amber tint preserves natural color perception while reducing the blue light reaching your eyes during work, browsing, and general screen time.

Orange (99% blue light filtering) - designed for nighttime use and maximum blue light reduction. The deeper orange tint filters nearly all blue light, supporting the body’s natural transition toward sleep. Ideal for evening screen sessions, gaming, and use within 2–3 hours before bed.

Lightweight and Flexible

The frames are made from TR90 - a thermoplastic nylon used in sport and medical eyewear for its combination of low weight, high flexibility, and durability. TR90 is lighter and more flexible than standard acetate, which matters when you are stacking one pair of glasses on top of another. The fitover frame is deliberately kept lightweight to minimize added bulk and maintain comfort during extended wear.

The lenses are CR-39 - a shatterproof optical plastic used in prescription eyewear. Three coatings are applied:

Anti-glare - reduces reflections from the front and back surfaces of the lens.

Anti-smudge - resists fingerprints and oils for clearer vision throughout the day.

Anti-fatigue - improves screen contrast and readability of small text.

How to use

Wearing the Fitovers

1. Put on your prescription or reading glasses as normal. 

2. Place the Fitover glasses on top. The wide rectangular frame should sit comfortably around your existing glasses without pressing on them. The temples of both pairs run parallel along the sides of your head.

3. Adjust for comfort. If the fitovers feel too snug, gently flex the TR90 temples outward - the material is designed to bend without breaking. If they feel too loose, the flexible frame will still grip gently enough to hold position during normal use.

Choosing Your Lens

• Amber (50%) for daytime. Colors remain close to natural. The slight tint is barely noticeable to others.

• Orange (99%) for nighttime. Stronger tint that shifts color perception. Maximum blue light filtering for sleep support.

Care Instructions

• Clean lenses with a microfiber cloth or lens-safe spray. Avoid paper towels, tissues, or clothing.

• Rinse under lukewarm water before wiping to remove dust.

• Store in the included case when not in use.

• Avoid chemical cleaners, alcohol, or acetone on the lenses or frames.

    These really help!

    They look really big on my narrow face, but they definitely block blue light! We have an air purifier that has a circle of blue lights on it, and when I look through the glasses, the circle is a pale yellow! If the circle is purple, it's red through my glasses. Very cool. I tested my other supposed blue light-blocking glasses, and this was not the case. My big issue is with sleep, and these have helped calm my body in the evening and made falling asleep a bit easier.

    They fit over most standard prescription and reading glasses. The wide rectangular TR90 frame is designed to sit around typical eyeglass frames without pressing on them. Very large, oversized, or wrap-style prescription frames may not fit comfortably underneath. If your current glasses have a relatively standard width, the fitovers should work.

    Amber for daytime. Orange for nighttime. The Amber (50%) lens reduces blue light while keeping colors close to natural - best for work, browsing, and general screen use during the day. The Orange (99%) lens filters nearly all blue light for the 2–3 hours before bed, supporting your body’s transition toward sleep.

    The Fitovers go over your existing glasses. The other styles are designed to be worn . Both use the same CR-39 lenses with the same coatings and the same 50%/99% filtering options. The difference is the frame: the Fitover uses TR90 (lighter, more flexible) with a wider profile designed to accommodate prescription glasses underneath. The other styles use acetate and are for people who do not wear prescription glasses.

    Blue light suppresses melatonin, the hormone that signals your body to sleep. Screens emit blue light in the 400–490 nm range. Exposure in the hours before bed delays melatonin production and shifts the circadian rhythm, making it harder to fall asleep and reducing sleep quality. The Orange (99%) lens filters nearly all of this wavelength range.

    Yes - noticeably. The 99% filtering tint shifts the color spectrum toward warm orange/amber tones. This is normal and intentional - the deeper the filter, the more color shift is required. The Amber (50%) lens preserves more natural color for users who prioritize accuracy.
