Every DefenderShield product is engineered with specifically-chosen shielding substrates that block different ranges of electromagnetic frequencies emitted by electronic devices. These frequencies fall into two primary categories: Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) radiation and Radio Frequency (RF) radiation.

Understanding EMF Radiation

Electromagnetic fields (EMFs) exist across a wide range of frequencies. Different technologies — from your home power lines to your cell phone — emit different parts of this spectrum.

  • Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) Radiation

    Range: 0 Hz to 300 Hz

    ELF radiation comes from anything that uses electricity. It’s emitted by household wiring, appliances, power lines, and the internal electrical components of your phone or laptop. ELF waves are very low in frequency but can still penetrate the body when you’re in close proximity to a powered device.

  • Radio Frequency (RF) Radiation

    Range: 300 Hz to 300 GHz

    RF radiation includes all wireless communication signals — such as WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular networks, and radio transmissions. This part of the spectrum is much higher in frequency and energy than ELF (most signals staying in the 1-10 GHz range), and it’s what allows your devices to send and receive data wirelessly.

  • 5G and the New High-Frequency Frontier

    Low / Mid Band: 600 Hz – 6 GHz
    High Band / mmWave:     10 GHz – 100 GHz

    5G is part of the RF spectrum, but it introduces new millimeter-wave (mmWave) frequencies that reach much higher than previous generations of wireless technology. These ultra-high frequencies (above 10 GHz) are used in select urban networks and specialized fixed wireless systems. Only 5G-enabled devices can connect to these frequencies.

Most of our products are not designed to fully cover your device in shielding, since that would interrupt communication (hello Faraday Bags!). By placing our proprietary shielding materials only on one side of the device, the side facing your body, we help block electromagnetic emissions — dramatically reducing your direct localized exposure. You can still use your device as usual with no interference, but with the peace of mind knowing your direct body contact with EMF radiation is mitigated.

Advanced, Flexible RF Protection for Soft-Sided Applications


Our Ultra Armor® shielding is a custom-created, high-performance variant of our Ultra Armor+ material — designed for more flexibility while maintaining industry-leading RF protection.

It blocks up to 99% of all wireless frequencies, including 5G, and like Ultra Armor+, it reaches higher frequencies than any other shielding technology on the market, up to 100 GHz and beyond.

Though it doesn’t shield against ELF frequencies, it provides powerful, full-range RF defense in a form that can bend, fold, and move with you.

This makes Ultra Armor ideal for soft-sided accessories, Faraday applications, and device enclosures where flexibility matters.

Best Application: Best for when you don’t want to use a permanent EMF-blocking case for your device, but would still like protection when occasionally keeping your devices close by or on your body. Alternatively, when you wish to shield devices fully in a Faraday bag to block wireless RF hacking and EMP attacks, when your device is not in use in a public place or during travel.

Advanced Wireless Shielding

Lightweight, Fabric-Integrated Protection


Our Advanced RF Wireless Shielding powers all DefenderShield® clothing and wearable products. It’s a lightweight, flexible shielding fabric designed to block RF (radio frequency) radiation — the same type emitted by cell phones, WiFi routers, and Bluetooth devices — up to around 10 GHz, which includes low and mid-band 5G signals.

While this level doesn’t extend to the very highest 5G millimeter-wave frequencies, it still provides excellent protection across virtually all everyday wireless communications.

Its soft and stretchable nature allows it to be:
