Works With DefenderShield Cases — and Everything Else


If you own a DefenderShield Detachable Magnetic Wallet Case, the mount is ready out of the box. Clip the mount to your car vent blades, detach the magnetic nesting from the wallet, place it on the mount, and drive. When you arrive, pull the nesting off and snap the wallet back on.

If you use a different phone or case, the mount includes two 3M adhesive metal plates. Peel the backing, press a plate onto the back of your phone or case, and the magnets grip it the same way.The mount also works with GPS units, mini tablets, and other small electronic devices that accept a magnetic plate.

How to Use

Installation

1. Clip the mount onto your air vent. Slide the clip onto a horizontal vent blade. Push it as far back as it will go for the firmest grip. Placing it on the bottom blade of the vent gives the best weight support.

2. Attach your phone.

  • DefenderShield Wallet Case: Detach the magnetic nesting (with your phone inside) from the wallet. Place the nesting onto the mount. The magnets grip automatically.

  • Any other phone: Peel the backing from one of the included 3M adhesive metal plates. Press it firmly onto the back of your phone or phone case. Place the phone onto the mount.

3. Adjust the angle. Rotate the 360° swivel head to your preferred viewing position.

Tips

• If the mount slides on a smooth vent blade, try a different blade or push the clip further back.

• If the weight of the mount and your phone tilts the horizontal vent blades down, make sure to wedge the mount on the bottom vent blade to allow for vent blade control.

• The 3M plates work best on flat, smooth surfaces. Textured or heavily curved cases may reduce grip.

• When not in use, leave the mount clipped to the vent — it is small enough to stay out of the way.

• When you arrive, pull the phone off and reattach the DefenderShield EMF Wallet Case for full EMF shielding and card carry.

Unfortunately, with my older model vehicle, the heat vents were too loose and could not hold up with the weight of my phone.

Didn't work for me

I think the concept odd heat and worries have been the perfect spot for my phone but when I attached the mount to the air vents, they fell and couldn't hold the weight of the mount let alone the phone.

It sounds like the clips are having trouble gripping the slats in your air vent or the combined weight of the mount and your phone is simply too much for the vent design.

The stability of any air vent mount relies heavily on the strength and style of the particular vehicle's vents.

Here are a few things we can try to improve the mount's stability:

1.) Check the Grip: Double-check that the vent clip is fully secured onto the thickest part of the air vent slat. If it has a tightening knob or lock, ensure it is firmly engaged.

2.) Try a Different Vent: Sometimes the air vents in the middle of the dash are structurally stronger than the side vents. Try moving the mount to a different vent location to see if it holds better.

3.) Use a Different Style Mount: If your vehicle's vents are too weak or too oddly shaped, an air vent mount may not be the best long-term solution.

My experience with this product was helpful until the magnet that was attached to my iPhone 7 defender shield phone case slid off. It doesn’t have enough adhesive to reattach it, so I stopped trying.

Yes, it is designed specifically for them. If you have a DefenderShield Detachable Magnetic Wallet Case, detach the nesting from the wallet (with the phone inside) and place it directly on the mount. The magnets grip automatically. When you arrive, pull the nesting off and snap the wallet back on for EMF shielding and card carry.

Use the included 3M adhesive metal plates. Peel the backing and press a plate onto the back of your phone or phone case. The plate magnetizes to the mount the same way a DefenderShield nesting does. Two plates are included. The adhesive leaves no residue when removed.

Yes — the anti-shake design is built for road vibration. The magnets hold firmly and the mount absorbs vibration. The phone stays stable at highway speed, over speed bumps, and on rough pavement.

It fits most standard horizontal or vertical air vent blades. The clip slides over a single blade and grips from behind. If your vent has round or circular outlets instead of blades, the clip may not fit securely. Push the clip as far back onto the blade as possible for the strongest hold. Since the weight of your phone may tilt horizontal vent blades down, we suggest placing the clip on the bottom horiztonal vent blade so the clip rests stable on the bottom of the air vent itself.

Modern smartphones are not affected by the magnets used in phone mounts. Chip-based credit cards and transit cards are also unaffected. If you carry a magnetic-stripe hotel key card directly against the mount, it could be demagnetized — but cards in a wallet case or separate pocket are fine.

No — this is a mounting accessory, not a shielding product. It does not contain Ultra Armor® or any EMF shielding material.
