Good to know
These glasses block blue light from digital screens. The Amber (50%) lens is designed for daytime use and preserves natural color perception. The Orange (99%) lens is designed for nighttime use and has a stronger tint that shifts color perception but provides maximum blue light filtering for sleep support. Choose one lens at purchase; for both day and night lenses in a single frame, see the Versa 2-in-1 Blue Light Glasses. Because blue light is part of the EMF spectrum, filtering it also reduces your daily EMF exposure.

Description

Everyday Blue Light Protection in a Timeless Frame

From the first look at your phone in the morning to the last show at night, screens are part of almost every hour of the day - and every one of them emits blue light. That high-energy visible (HEV) light is linked to digital eye strain, dry and tired eyes, headaches, and disrupted sleep.

The DefenderShield® Classic Style Blue Light Blocking Glasses keep it simple: a timeless rectangular frame that works with any outfit and face shape, fitted with filtering lenses that match the time of day:

Amber (50% blue light filtering) - designed for daytime and all-day use. The slight amber tint keeps colors on screen close to their original appearance while reducing the blue light reaching your eyes during work, browsing, and video calls.

Orange (99% blue light filtering) - designed for evening use and maximum blue light reduction. The deeper orange tint filters nearly all blue light, supporting the body’s natural transition toward sleep. Ideal for the 2–3 hours before bed.

Simple, Versatile, Easy to Wear

The Classic Style is the frame you reach for without thinking about it. It is made from acetate - a plant-derived plastic polymer that is lightweight, durable, and gentle on skin.  It is a timeless Wayfarer-inspired frame with softly rounded rectangular lenses, ideal for everyday wear and especially flattering on round or oval faces.

The lenses are CR-39 - a shatterproof optical plastic used in prescription eyewear - with three coatings: anti-glare to cut reflections, anti-smudge to resist fingerprints, and anti-fatigue to sharpen contrast and small text on screens.

Features
🟡 Amber Lens - 50% Blue Light Filtering for Daytime Use A slight amber tint that looks close to clear glasses. Cuts blue light by half while keeping colors natural. Best for office work, browsing, video calls, and general screen time during daylight hours. 🟠 Orange Lens - 99% Blue Light Filtering for Extended Day or Night Use A deeper orange tint that filters nearly all blue light reaching your eyes. Designed for more sensitive eyes that spend long days looking at screens, or the 2–3 hours before sleep, when blue light has the strongest effect on melatonin production. Ideal for streaming, gaming, and late-night work. 👓 Classic Frame Design A clean, traditional silhouette that works at the desk, on the couch, and everywhere in between. Softly rounded rectangular frames offer an effortless, classic look, adding definition to round faces and complementing oval face shapes. 💠 CR-39 Shatterproof Lenses with Three Coatings The same optical-grade plastic used in prescription eyewear - lightweight and impact-resistant. Anti-glare, anti-smudge, and anti-fatigue coatings reduce reflections, resist fingerprints, and improve text readability on screens. 🔶 Lightweight Acetate Frames Plant-derived acetate is lighter than metal, more flexible than standard plastic, and comfortable for all-day wear - the same frame material used in our Signature Series. 😴 Sleep Support Through Blue Light Reduction Blue light from screens suppresses melatonin and disrupts the circadian rhythm. The Orange (99%) lens filters the most wavelengths that interfere with the body’s evening wind-down, helping you fall asleep faster and supporting deeper rest.
How to Use

Choosing Your Lens

  • Amber (50%) for daytime. Wear during work, commuting, and general screen time. Colors stay close to natural and the tint is barely noticeable to others.
  • Orange (99%) for nighttime or for all-day screen usage. Wear during the workday if you have sensitive eyes or need extra protection from all-day blue light and LED overhead lights, or during the 2–3 hours before bed while watching TV, gaming, or scrolling. The deeper tint shifts color perception but provides maximum filtering for sleep support.
  • Want both? The Versa 2-in-1 Blue Light Glasses include clip-on lenses so you can switch between 50% and 99% filtering in one frame.

Building Blue Light Glasses Into Your Day

  • Keep them where you use screens. Leave the Amber pair at your desk so it’s on before the workday starts, not after your eyes feel tired.
  • Wind down with the Orange lens. Wear Orange for the last 2–3 hours before bed, especially for phone or tablet use in bed.
  • Adjust the fit if needed. Acetate frames can be adjusted by a local optician if the glasses slide down or feel tight.

Care Instructions

  • Clean lenses with a microfiber cloth and a lens-safe spray. Avoid paper towels, tissues, or clothing - these can scratch the coatings. A microfiber cloth and sleeve is included.
  • Rinse under lukewarm water before wiping to remove dust particles that could scratch the surface.
  • Store in the provided microfiber sleeve when not in use, and avoid chemical cleaners, alcohol, or acetone on the lenses or frames.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Blue Light Blocking Glasses – Classic Series FAQ

Amber for daytime. Orange for nighttime. The Amber (50%) lens is designed for work, browsing, and general screen time and keeps colors close to natural. The Orange (99%) lens is designed for the 2–3 hours before bed and filters nearly all blue light to support sleep. For both in one frame, see the Versa 2-in-1.

Same lenses and protection - the difference is the frame. All three use acetate frames, CR-39 lenses with three coatings, and 50% / 99% lens options. The Classic has a timeless everyday rounded rectangle shape; the Signature is a modern rectangle with clear edge accents; the Noble has a more refined, elevated rounded square shape.

Yes. The 99% filter shifts colors toward warm orange tones - that tint is what blocks nearly all blue light. For daytime tasks where color accuracy matters, choose the Amber (50%) lens.

No - they are designed to be worn on their own. For prescription wearers, the Universal Fitover Series goes over most prescription frames, the Clip-On Lenses attach to your existing glasses, and the Versa 2-in-1 can be fitted with your prescription by your eye doctor.

Blue light tells your brain it’s still daytime. Screen light in the 400–490 nm range suppresses melatonin and delays your body’s sleep signal. Wearing the Orange (99%) lens in the evening filters nearly all of these wavelengths, supporting a more natural wind-down.

Yes. The Amber lens is designed for all-day wear with minimal color shift, and lightweight acetate frames stay comfortable through long days at a screen. Switch to the Orange lens in the evening for sleep support.

Yes - blue light is a form of EMF radiation. Blue light is part of the HEV (High Energy Visible) range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Filtering it from screens and LED lighting reduces your daily EMF exposure. For RF and ELF shielding from your devices, see DefenderShield’s phone cases, tablet cases, and laptop shields.

Filtering strength, lens quality, and frame material. DefenderShield offers a true 99% nighttime lens (most budget glasses filter 20–40%), CR-39 optical lenses with anti-glare, anti-smudge, and anti-fatigue coatings, and acetate frames instead of basic injection-molded plastic.
