In both the front cover and the rotating back cover. When the case is closed, both shielded surfaces cover the tablet from the top and bottom. When the case is open and the tablet is in use on your lap book-style, the rotating back cover sits directly between the tablet and your legs. When you fold the front cover into a stand, the back cover is no longer in between you and your tablet - but the front cover continues to shield your lap. In every practical position, at least one shielded surface is between the device and your body.

Yes - this is one of the key differentiators of the DefenderShield Tablet Case. RF (Radio Frequency) radiation is emitted by your tablet’s wireless connections: WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular, GPS, and 5G. ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) radiation is emitted by the tablet’s battery and internal circuitry. Most tablet cases that claim EMF protection address RF only, and not even the full spectrum of higher, newer RF frequencies. The Ultra Armor+® shielding in this case blocks both - from 60 Hz (ELF) through 2.5 THz (5G mmWave and beyond) - making it comprehensive across the full electromagnetic spectrum relevant to tablet emissions.

Yes - the Ultra Armor+® shielding covers all three 5G bands: low-band (below 1 GHz), mid-band/C-band (up to 6 GHz), and high-band millimeter wave (24 GHz and above, tested up to 2.5 THz). Many competing EMF tablet sleeves address only low-band 5G. The DefenderShield case shielding is independently tested to perform across the full range, which includes every current and near-future 5G and eventual 6G deployment band.

No - all wireless connections remain fully functional. The shielding is directional: it reduces the radiation passing through the covers toward your body, not the signal reaching the tablet’s antenna. WiFi speed, Bluetooth pairing, cellular reception, and battery performance are unaffected.

Most tablets that fall within the size range. Standard fits most tablets, up to 11” × 7.75” - including all standard iPads, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad Pro 11”, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Surface Go, and others. Large fits tablets up to 12.5” × 9.25” - including iPad Pro 12.9”/13”, Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+/S9+/S10+, Microsoft Surface Pro, and others. No - the case is designed to fit a wide range of tablets and does not include a dedicated camera cutout. To take photos or use the camera, you will have to remove the tablet from the case, or use the front-facing camera which remains accessible.

The Tablet Case wraps around the device. The DefenderPad sits underneath it. The DefenderPad is a flat lap shield designed to go between a laptop (or tablet) and your lap - it provides shielding from the bottom only and has no case, stand, or closure. The Tablet Case is a full protective and functioning case with shielding in both the front and back covers, a 360° swivel stand, corner grips, and a magnetic closure. Choose the DefenderPad if you use a laptop primarily. Choose the Tablet Case if you want a combined case + stand + shield that travels with the device.

The tablet case uses Ultra Armor+®, which is related to but different from the Ultra Armor® used in Faraday bags. Both use multi-layer metallic composite shielding. The difference is that Ultra Armor+® adds ELF shielding on top of the RF protection - a layer the standard Ultra Armor® Faraday line does not include since it is not necessary for data security.

Additionally, a Faraday bag seals the device completely inside a conductive enclosure, blocking all signals in and out. The tablet case applies shielding directionally through the front and back covers, so your tablet stays connected while reducing the radiation that reaches your body.

Four specific, verifiable differences:

1. Full-spectrum shielding (60 Hz-2.5 THz): the DefenderShield case blocks RF, all three 5G bands, and ELF battery emissions. Most budget tablet sleeves cover a narrow RF band and skip ELF entirely.

2. FCC-accredited independent lab testing: shielding performance is verified and published, not self-reported.

3. Two-sided shielding: both the front cover and rotating back cover contain Ultra Armor+®. Budget sleeves typically shield one side only.

4. Product Quality: 360° swivel, kickstand, corner grips, magnetic closure, and long lasting vegan leather build. Budget EMF tablet cases have cheaper materials that don’t last with time and break easily.

Protection Case

I love all of Defender Shield products, I have a phone cover and earphones as well. The only thing missing on the tablet case is an opening for the camera. I’m guessing that because it’s used for many types of tablets that the opening places would vary, so it is not possible. I am grateful for all that Defender Shield does to protect our health. I wish you had a Canadian site, as it is quite expensive to get these products as a Canadian.

Fits perfectly and works!

I’ve been so glad to use this for my iPad Air. I read on it all the time and because I dropped it a few years ago it needs to be plugged into the charger in order to work. Thankfully I have no need to worry about being zapped during my long hours reading. It fits perfectly and I love that it can rotate and be propped up too to change to any position I’ve needed. iPad EMF Radiation Protection Cases

I have an EMF meter. Was showing red before buying the shield. With the protection case it registers between green and yellow. Use the iPad every day and am relieved and satisfied.

I-Pad Protection Case

The Defender Shield i-pad protection case is a very well made case that provides good protection for my i-pad and myself. The only drawback is the weight of the case. I tend to hang on to my i-pad instead of having it on my lap or on a table most of the time and my wrist can feel strained after using it a while. Overall though it is a great product!

Doesn't fit ipad air 4th gen

Overall, it seems to do what it is designed to do BUT one corner partially covers the touch ID and volume buttons on the corner of my sons ipad so it turns the ipad on/off and obscures the touch id so he just uses it with that corner out of the cover. Not ideal but he had already been using it before I realized and a return/exchange would have been a hassle. This is with the ipad air 4th generation, maybe I am missing something, but can't seem to make it work without pressing the buttons on that corner. (see photo where the corner aligns and covers button)

EMFs are emitted from edge of tablet

My Trifield EMF reader indicated that magnetic and electric fields are very strong from the bottom edge of my tablet which is not covered by the shield.
