5 Tips to Protect Yourself from EMFs

Radio Frequency exposure from Wifi and wireless devices

Technology has improved our lives in many ways. We have information at our fingertips. We can talk to and communicate with people from all around the world.

For all of technology’s wonders, however, there invisible downsides. These invisible problems include Electromagnetic Radiation–also known as EMF radiation, and its negative effects. Electromagnetic Radiation is around us all the time at home, at work, at school, in our vehicles, on buses, on trains, on planes, and in stores and restaurants. The human eye cannot detect Electromagnetic Radiation, but it is always there.

EMF Radiation Basics

EMF radiation is low-energy radiation emitted by the technology surrounding us. Laptops, tablets, cell phones, televisions, WiFi, household appliances, and cell towers all emit EMFs, in two different frequencies.

ELF, or Extremely Low Frequency radiation is emitted from electronic sources all around us. Anything with a plug or a battery is electronic, and emits ELF.

RF, or Radio Frequency radiation emits from wireless devices that communicate using WiFi, Bluetooth, or cellular communications.

We are usually safe from EMF radiation sources like power lines, cell towers and appliances when they are a safe distance away. For example, if you live more than 1,000 feet away from a cell tower, you should not experience any effects of EMF radiation. Even passing by these sources of intense EMF radiation should be fine, since your body is not exposed for long.

However, when we use smaller EMF-emitting devices daily, we are more at risk because the sources of radiation are directly against the body and used for a long duration of time. The closer your body is to an emitting device, the more harm it could be causing.

Research has shown that EMF exposure from laptops and tablets, can cause infertility, interrupt our body’s electrons and cellular communication, cause cellular damage or DNA mutation and create skin problems as well as many other health concerns. In other words, it can be harmful to use laptop computers, tablets or cell phones directly against the body.

Even when a laptop doesn’t feel hot, these issues can still occur because Electromagnetic Radiation is constantly being released.

Other health problems can be caused by Electromagnetic Radiation, from minor heat rashes and tingling to very serious long-term health concerns. In children and adults, it can lead to permanent cell damage, neuron damage, and even damage and break our DNA. Some of the symptoms to overexposure can also include depression, anxiety, headaches, insomnia, nausea, and respiratory illness.

Unfortunately many people believe these symptoms come from another source and might not realize the damage is from their electronics until it is too late.

So what do you do?

Everyone should be aware of sources of Electromagnetic Radiation in your environment. Know that you likely won’t be able to get completely away from Electromagnetic Radiation, but the less exposure you have to it the better. When we use devices such as laptops, tablets, or cell phones, we need to limit our body’s exposure to these radiating devices by using 5 EMF protection options, also explained in the video below.

5 EMF Protection Tips:

  1. Reduce Sources: Remove electronic devices from your main living or working space if not needed, and turn them off if you are not using them.

By removing as many electronic devices as you can from around you, you can reduce the number of “bees in the room”. As our Founder Dan DeBaun always says, one bee can’t really hurt you, but a swarm of bees is very dangerous. Keeping WiFi routers and electronic devices off and out of your bedroom or living room as often as possible can reduce the radiation you are getting exposed to by eliminating the source.

  2. Create Distance: Keep portable devices like laptops, tablets and cell phones at a safe distance away from our bodies.

When you plan to use a laptop computer, a tablet such as an iPad, or any other electronic device, keep it away from your lap. One foot away will decrease exposure to EMFs by 80%, and four feet away will eliminate 98% of the emissions you are exposed to. Keep WiFi routers, which emit more EMFs than your phone or laptop, at least 10 feet away. This simple act will reduce the potentially dangerous radiation from affecting your body.

  3. Limit Time: Use the devices for only short periods of time.

If you decide to use your devices against your body, try to keep the use to a brief period of time. Having a device in your lap for only a few minutes is far safer than having the devices in your lap for hours. This provides EMF protection.

  4. Use Wired Accessories: Connect all digital accessories and supporting devices with a wire, instead of using a wireless connection.

Wireless accessories are all the rage, we know. From AirPods to wireless speakers, keyboards, and WiFi, we are exposing ourselves to an increasing amount of radio frequency radiation. By simply plugging in your computer mouse and keyboard, your speakers and headsets, and by getting an Ethernet cable to connect to the Internet you can easily reduce a majority of the wireless EMF frequencies around you.

  5. Use Shielding: Use a shield in-between your device and your body that protects from EMF Radiation.

A wise choice for protecting yourself from electronic device radiation is to find an EMF protection shield. A laptop cooling pad, laptop table, lap desk and laptop tray only protect you from the heat radiation, not Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) or Radio Frequency (RF) radiation. EMFs can penetrate through most household objects. Make sure the shield between you and the electronic device offers a physical barrier to conduct, absorb, and dissipate the radiation away from your body. Harmonizing the frequency to modify its harm has no scientific basis.

Simple EMF protection tips will help you to limit your exposure to EMF radiation emitted by electronic devices like laptops, tablets and cell phones.
