How does the DefenderPad® protect me from harmful laptop and heat radiation?
The heat emitted from the bottom of a laptop can reach temperatures as high as 115° Fahrenheit (46.11° Celsius). Laptops tend to overheat because there is not a proper path for heat ventilation, intake air vents may be clogged with dust, or the laptop no longer operates as designed because of age.
The DefenderPad® does not have cooling fans, however, the thermally-resistive surface material on the top of the DefenderPad® allows the heat produced by laptops to flow away from the laptop and prevents all downward air flow from reaching the body. The DefenderPad® provides a clear venting heat path which keeps the laptop operating without overheating. This kind of air flow pattern significantly reduces the chances of your laptop overheating while also reducing your exposure to potentially dangerous heat levels. In the process of diverting this heat, the DefenderPad® absorbs some portion of the heat and, although warm, the heat on the bottom of the DefenderPad® is well within safety limits.
How Do I Use the DefenderPad® Laptop Shield?
Place the DefenderPad® on your lap with the grippy, rubber surface facing upward and then place your laptop or tablet on top of it. The DefenderPad® blocks EMF emissions moving in the downward direction of the electronic device.
If I use a DefenderPad®, does my laptop emit more dangerous emissions? Will they reflect back at me?
No. When using the DefenderPad® underneath a laptop, EMF radiation emitted from the device does not increase. The laptop emissions that flow in the downward direction from the laptop are absorbed and dissipated by the shielding materials and are never reflected back toward you.
Where does the radiation emit from on my laptop?
EMF radiation from your device is emitted omni-directionally (in all directions), similar to how sunlight spreads. This means radiation comes from the back, screen, and sides of the device.
How long does the shielding in my DefenderPad® last? When do I need to replace it?
DefenderShield technology is designed for long-lasting performance. Does the DefenderPad® reduce or block a wireless WiFi signal or router connectivity?
No. WiFi continues to work as designed and the transmitted signal direction is not altered or blocked in any way.
Can the DefenderPad® be used on a desk?
Yes, the DefenderPad® blocks EMF radiation emissions whether the DefenderPad® is placed on a lap, a table or any other surface. It is worth noting that when a laptop is placed on a table or desk, the EMF emissions present less risk to the body because there is space between the laptop and your lap.
When one foot away for example, the dangers from EMF radiation may be significantly reduced by about 80%.
Which side goes up?
The DefenderPad Laptop and Heat Shield provide EMF radiation protection regardless of which side faces up. However, we designed the DefenderPad with a dual benefit:
- Smooth Bottom: Ensures compatibility with various surfaces.
- Silicone Top: Provides a non-slip grip to keep your device stable during use.
We recommend placing the silicone top facing upwards for optimal device stability. This way, you can focus on work or entertainment without worrying about your laptop slipping.
Does the DefenderPad® reduce EMF emitted from a laptop screen?
At this time, there is no shielding material that exists that is transparent and able to block radiation emitted from a laptop or any device screen. However, if you are one foot away or more from your screen, the health risks are significantly reduced.
Can the DefenderPad® work with different size laptop computers?
Yes. The DefenderPad® has been designed to accommodate laptops and tablets with up to 17 inch displays.
Do some laptop radiation protection products shield EMF better than others?
Yes. It is important to review product information carefully. Some products only block your body from Extremely Low Frequency (ELF), but not Radio Frequency (RF), while others shield RF, but not ELF.

Does the DefenderPad® become saturated over time?
No, the DefenderPad® does not saturate over time. The DefenderPad® conducts, absorbs, and dissipates all potentially harmful EMF radiation emissions. There is no other way of shielding this broad spectrum range of radiation from electronic devices such as laptops, tablets and cell phones, without utilizing a multi-layer solution.
Since the DefenderPad® does not saturate, it is always available for highly efficient shielding. All emissions are contained and are NOT redirected or reflected into the room or toward your body in any way.
Can the DefenderPad® be cleaned?
To clean the DefenderPad, gentle cleaning helps maintain the appearance. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Mild detergent
- Soft cloth or cotton balls
- Clean water
Cleaning Instructions:
- Mix a mild detergent solution: Add a small amount of mild detergent to a bowl of clean water.
- Dampen the cloth: Dip your cloth into the solution and wring it out thoroughly to ensure it’s slightly damp, not wet.
- Wipe down the surfaces: Gently wipe the exterior surfaces of your DefenderPad or Laptop Sleeve with the damp cloth.
- Air dry completely: Allow the pad or sleeve to air dry completely before using it again.
Important Tips:
- Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cloths, as they can damage the materials.
- Never submerge your DefenderPad in any liquid.
