FAQs – DefenderShield® Blanket

EMF Protection Blanket

How do you wash the DefenderShield® EMF Radiation Protection Blanket?

To maintain the effectiveness of the shielding material, we recommend gentle hand washing for your blanket. Here’s how:

  1. Hand Wash: Use cold, soapy water and be gentle while cleaning. You may use mild detergent or specialized metallic fabric cleaner.
  2. Air Dry: Hang the blanket to dry and DO NOT place the blanket in a dryer.

Alternative Cleaning Option:

For easier care, consider using a duvet cover over your DefenderShield® blanket. This washable outer layer will protect the blanket itself, reducing the frequency of hand washing needed. Plus, the duvet cover won’t interfere with the shielding effectiveness of the DefenderShield® blanket underneath.

Is the DefenderShield® EMF Radiation Protection Blanket beneficial for travel?

Absolutely! The DefenderShield® blanket is a perfect travel companion for several reasons:

  • Blocks EMF Radiation: It shields you from Radio Frequency (RF) radiation emitted by the WiFi and nearby devices in the airplane environment, offering peace of mind and reduced EMF exposure.
  • Comfort and Warmth: Made with a bamboo and cotton outer shell, the blanket provides cozy comfort and warmth during your flight.
  • Portable: Our small blanket measures 35” x 36” for easy, packable transportation.

What are the sizes and are the blankets heavy?

Our blankets are sized to cover the top of the mattress with no overhang to reduce both the weight and cost.  Sizing specifications are as follows:

  • Small Blanket (36″ x 35″):
    Weight: 1.38 lbs
    Dimensions: 36 x 35 x .3 in
  • Medium Blanket (75″ x 53″):
    Weight: 4.5 lbs
    Dimensions: 75 x 53 x .3 in
  • Large Blanket (80″ x 60″):
    Weight: 5.1 lbs
    Dimensions: 80 x 60 x .3 in
  • X-Large Blanket (84″ x 75″):
    Weight: 7.3 lbs
    Dimensions: 84 x 75 x .3 in

How do the blankets work?

Our blankets act as a shield to protect you from Radio Frequency (RF) radiation emitted by electronic devices, like laptops, tablets, and even airplane Wi-Fi. They work differently than a metal conductor, which would block all signals entirely.

Here’s how:

  • Shielding, Non-Absorbing: The shielding encapsulated in our blankets prevents EMF radiation from passing through. It does this by acting as a floating ground, by providing a resistive path that forces the energy to take a longer, more indirect path.
  • Think Umbrella, Not Wall: Imagine an umbrella that significantly lessens the amount of rain reaching you, but doesn’t stop it completely. Similarly, the blanket reduces exposure, but doesn’t eliminate EMF radiation.
  • Dissipation, Not Storage: Some of the weakened EMF radiation is converted into a very small amount of thermal energy which dissipates within the shielding material itself.

Why does the blanket only cover the top of the bed?

Targeted Protection, Reduced Cost: We’ve opted for a unique size that covers the top of your mattress rather than a traditional bed size. This targets the areas of your body most vulnerable to EMF radiation during sleep and allows us to offer a lighter, more affordable product. While it may not fully drape over the sides of your bed, it prioritizes protection and value.
