FAQs – DefenderShield® Headphones
EMF-Free Headphones
How do the headphones reduce EMF exposure?
Our headphones incorporate two key features to minimize your exposure to EMF radiation:
- Air-Tube Technology: This innovative design creates distance between the sound source and your head. Sound is produced in speaker barrels located at the bottom of the air-tubes, and only sound waves travel through the tubes to your ears. This effectively keeps the source of EMF radiation further away from the head, reducing exposure.
- Shielded Wiring: The headphone wires are wrapped in a special nylon cord infused with copper. This copper-infused nylon acts as a shield, helping to prevent EMF radiation emitted from the wires from leaking onto your body while you’re using the headphones.
How do the controls work?
The built-in audio controller on your headphones lets you:
- Adjust Volume: Easily raise or lower the volume to your preferred level.
- Manage Playback: Play, pause, or skip tracks with a simple press.
- Take Control of Calls: Answer or end calls without reaching for your phone.
What is the frequency response on your EMF Radiation-Free Air Tube Headphones?
The frequency on the DefenderShield® EMF-Free Air Tube Earbuds is 50 Hz-10,000 Hz.
Are your EMF Radiation Free Air Tube Earbuds compatible with iPhones?
All newer iPhone models, beginning with the iPhone 7 series, require an Apple headphone lightning adapter in order to utilize a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Lightning adapters are readily available for purchase at most electronics retailers online or in store.
Are these noise cancelling headphones?
Our headphones focus on noise reduction. We use physical design elements to create a barrier that passively reduces the amount of outside noise reaching your ears.
True noise cancellation goes a step further by actively countering ambient noise. It does this with tiny microphones that pick up external noise, and then a speaker in the headphones generates sound waves that are the exact opposite of that noise. While effective, this technology can increase EMF radiation because the headphones become transmitters as well as receivers.
Since our core mission is to minimize EMF exposure, we currently focus on noise reduction for our headphones. This approach allows us to deliver excellent sound quality in a way that aligns with our commitment to your well-being..
Do I need an adaptor and what type do I need?
3.5mm version
No adapter is needed if your device has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
If your device lacks a headphone jack, you’ll need an adapter to use our headphones. The type of adapter depends on your device’s charging port:
- Apple devices (iPhones): Lightning adapter
- Android devices: USB-C dongle
These adapters connect to your device’s charging port and provide a 3.5mm jack for your headphones. *For optimal compatibility, we recommend using original manufacturer adapters.
USB-C version
Do I need an adapter for my USB-C headphones?
No adapter is needed if your device has a USB-C port for headphones, commonly found on newer phones. These USB-C headphones are directly compatible with:
- iPhone 15 and later models
- Most Android phones
If your device has a different port (like the older 3.5mm jack), you’ll need a separate adapter to use these headphones.
Do you sell adaptors and if not where can I purchase one?
Since our headphones prioritize broad compatibility, we don’t include adapters in the packaging. However, these adapters are widely available depending on your phone type:
- Android Devices: Most Android phones use a USB-C port for charging and audio. A USB-C to 3.5mm audio adapter can be found on Amazon, electronic stores, or even your phone’s carrier store.
- Apple Devices (iPhone 7 and earlier): A Lightning adapter is needed to connect the headphones to your phone’s charging port. You can easily find these adapters at the Apple Store or other authorized retailers.

How do I change the ear tips?
How to Change the Ear Tips
- Removing Current Tips: Pinch the current silicone tip firmly and pull it straight down until it detaches from the earbud.
- Replacing Round Tips:
- Fold the top of the earbud back slightly to expose the stalk.
- Push the new round tip onto the earbud with firm pressure, twisting slightly like screwing on a bottle cap.
- Replacing Sport Tips:
- Identify the left (L) and right (R) tips by the markings inside the larger opening.
- Match the tip size (small/medium/large) to your preference.
- Insert the earbud into the larger opening of the sport tip, ensuring the smaller opening is pressed firmly against the inside of the smaller hole on the earbud.
- These tips rest in the upper ear cartilage, not inside the ear canal, using the small finger-like projection for a secure fit.

How do I clean the headphones?
To maintain optimal sound quality and hygiene, it’s important to clean your headphones regularly. Here’s a safe and effective method:
What You’ll Need:
- A microfiber cloth (ideally, one intended for cleaning electronics)
- Isopropyl alcohol wipes or antibacterial wipes – Optional
Cleaning Instructions:
- Power Off and Disconnect: Disconnect your headphones from any device.
- Dry Cleaning: Use the dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe down the ear pieces and other exterior surfaces. This removes dust, dirt, and loose particles.
- Spot Cleaning (Optional): For stubborn grime or earwax buildup, slightly dampen a corner of the microfiber cloth with clean water. Wring it out thoroughly to ensure it’s barely damp, not wet. Wipe down the affected areas gently.
- Isopropyl Alcohol wipes or Antibacterial wipes (Optional – Use with Caution): If you prefer a more thorough disinfection, you can use isopropyl alcohol or antibacterial wipes. Important: Never apply isopropyl alcohol directly to the headphones. Moisten a cotton swab with a small amount of alcohol and carefully clean crevices or areas with heavy buildup. Avoid excessive use of cleaning solution, and never submerge the headphones in any liquid.
- Air Drying: Allow the headphones to air dry completely before using them again. This can take 15-30 minutes.
Additional Tips:
- Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaning cloths, as they can damage the headphone materials.
- Don’t submerge the headphones in any liquid, even for cleaning.
- Clean the ear buds or cups regularly, especially if you use them during workouts or for extended periods.
By following these steps, you can keep your headphones clean and ensure they continue to deliver excellent sound quality.
