How Does EMF Shielding Clothing Work?
Every garment in the DefenderShield clothing lineup uses silver-based shielding fabric woven or lined into the interior. Silver is highly conductive - when silver fibers are woven into fabric, they form a conductive mesh that reflects and absorbs wireless RF radiation before it reaches the body. The shielding works passively: no batteries, no charging, no activation. Put the garment on and the fabric shields whatever body area it covers.
Is This the Same Technology as DefenderShield Phone Cases?
No. Phone cases use Ultra Armor® or Ultra Armor+® - rigid, multi-layer composites designed to block radiation from a specific device at close range. Clothing uses silver-based shielding fabric designed to be soft, flexible, breathable, and wearable against skin for extended periods. Both block wireless RF radiation, but the materials and applications are different. Clothing shields you from ambient environmental sources (WiFi routers, cell towers, Bluetooth devices). Device cases shield you from a specific device (your phone, your laptop).
Choosing by Body Area
Head - three options. The Baseball Cap ($84.99) is a structured mid-profile cap with a silver shielding interior that blocks up to 99% of RF radiation (300 Hz–10 GHz). Outer: 90% Nylon / 10% Spandex. VELCRO® back strap with no opening for seamless crown shielding. UV protection from the brim and crown. Antimicrobial silver lining. Black. Fits up to 23.5”. Year-round.
The Winter Beanie ($51.99) is a warm cotton-acrylic knit (60% Cotton / 40% Acrylic outer) with a silver-threaded polyester liner (42% Silver / 53% Polyester / 5% Nylon). Blocks up to 99% of ambient wireless RF radiation. Frequency range not specified by DefenderShield. Stretchy pull-on fit (18–26”). 2.1 oz. Cold weather.
The Beanie Cap ($34.99) is a lightweight Cotton/Nylon/Spandex knit with a 100% silver fiber inner lining. Blocks up to 99% of RF radiation (300 Hz–10 GHz). Foldable brim for adjustable coverage. Three sizes - Baby (~14–17”), Child (~20–25”), Adult (~23–28”) - the only EMF hat in the lineup with baby and child sizes. Gray and Deep Ocean Teal. Antimicrobial. Year-round.
Upper body - two options. The EMF Hooded Jacket ($379.99) uses EMF-blocking metallic fabric (silver-based) to block up to 99% of wireless RF radiation reaching the torso, arms, and head (hood up). The Wrap Scarf ($99.99) is a 54% cotton / 46% silver woven blend (58” × 28”, 0.5 lbs) that blocks up to 99% of RF radiation (300 Hz–10 GHz). Wear as a neck scarf, shoulder wrap, upper-body poncho, or waist sarong. Antimicrobial and odor-resistant. Four colors.
Hands. The EMF Gloves ($35.99) are thin, stretchy cotton/spandex and silver fiber knit gloves that block up to 99% of RF radiation (300 Hz–10 GHz). Touchscreen compatible - swipe, tap, scroll, and type normally. Fingerprint scanners and Touch ID will not work through the gloves. Anti-microbial, anti-odor, anti-static. Two sizes (Small and Large).
Face and eyes (sleep). The EMF Sleep Mask ($42.49) uses silver shielding fabric behind a contoured memory foam eyepiece to block wireless RF radiation from reaching the eyes, forehead, and temple area. Pregnancy. The Pregnancy Belly Band ($94.99) has silver fiber shielding in the front and side panels, blocking up to 99% of RF radiation (300 Hz–10 GHz) from reaching the abdomen. Organic bamboo/cotton blend outer. Adjustable waistband with button closure and elastic hem. Stretches from early pregnancy through third trimester with zero pressure on the belly. Two sizes (S/M and L). The back is unshielded for breathability.
Layering for More Coverage
Each garment shields only the body area it covers. For broader coverage, layer multiple products: wear a hat (head) + the jacket (torso/arms) + the scarf (neck) + the gloves (hands). The Beanie Cap is thin enough to layer under the jacket hood, another hat, or a helmet. During pregnancy, pair the Belly Band with the Wrap Scarf for abdomen + upper-body shielding.
What This Clothing Does Not Do
EMF protection clothing shields the body area covered by the fabric. Areas not covered are not shielded. No single garment provides full-body coverage. The clothing blocks ambient wireless RF radiation from the environment - it does not block radiation from a device you are holding in your hand. No. Phone cases use Ultra Armor® or Ultra Armor+®, which are rigid composites designed for device-level shielding. Clothing uses silver-based shielding fabrics designed for wearable comfort against skin. Both block wireless RF radiation, but the materials and frequency ranges differ.
2. What frequency range does EMF protection clothing cover?
Five products - the Baseball Cap, Beanie Cap, Wrap Scarf, Belly Band, and Gloves - are specified at 300 Hz–10 GHz, which covers WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular, and low- to mid-band 5G. Three products - the Hooded Jacket, Winter Beanie, and Sleep Mask - do not have a specific frequency range published by DefenderShield. 3. Does the clothing provide full-body protection?
No single garment covers the entire body. Each product shields the body area it covers - and only that area. For the most comprehensive wearable coverage, layer multiple products: hat (head) + jacket (torso/arms) + scarf (neck) + gloves (hands).
4. Are there sizes for children and babies?
The Beanie Cap is the only clothing product with baby and child sizes (Baby/Small, Child/Medium, Adult/Large). All other products are adult-sized. The Pregnancy Belly Band is available in S/M and L.
5. How do I wash EMF protection clothing?
Most products require gentle handwashing in cold water and air drying. Do not bleach, machine wash, iron shielding fabric, or tumble dry. The silver fibers in most products are naturally antimicrobial, so frequent washing is not necessary. Specific care instructions are included with each product.
6. Can I use my phone’s touchscreen while wearing the gloves?
Yes. The EMF Gloves are fully touchscreen compatible - swipe, tap, scroll, and type normally. Fingerprint scanners and Touch ID will not work through the gloves; use a passcode or Face ID instead.
7. Is the Pregnancy Belly Band safe throughout pregnancy?
The band stretches from early pregnancy through the third trimester. It applies zero pressure on the belly. The organic bamboo/cotton outer is soft against sensitive skin. The shielding covers the front and side panels; the back is unshielded for breathability. As with all products worn during pregnancy, consult your healthcare provider if you have specific concerns.
8. What is the return policy?
